Women's Club World Championship: The records waiting to fall

Lausanne, November 29, 2019 - With the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship just around the corner, starting next Tuesday in Shaoxing, China, the scoring, attacking, blocking and serving records are the numbers against which the superstars of the competition will be judged and compared as they strive for the top positions in the ultimate club competition in the world.

These are the records to watch out for next week:

Seven players have made the 'Over 30s' list, with Ekaterina Gamova scoring 34 points for Dinamo Kazan in 2014 and China's Liu Yanhan matching that last year for Zhejiang Women's VC.

Top scorers by year (since the introduction of the rally scoring system):
● 2010 Doha: 67 points - Katarzyna Skowronska (POL) for Fenerbahce Istanbul (TUR)
● 2011 Doha: 70 points - Natasa Osmokrovic (CRO) for Rabita Baku (AZE)
● 2012 Doha: 57 points - Sheilla Castro (BRA) for Sollys/Nestle Osasco (BRA)
● 2013 Zurich: 80 points - Zhu Ting (CHN) for Guangdong Evergrande (CHN)
● 2014 Zurich: 85 points - Ekaterina Gamova (RUS) for Dinamo Kazan (RUS)
● 2015 Zurich: 93 points - Olesia Rykhliuk (BLR) for Volero Zurich (SUI)
● 2016 Manila: 103 points - Zhu Ting (CHN) for VakifBank Istanbul (TUR)
● 2017 Kobe: 100 points - Nataliya Goncharova (RUS) for Dinamo Moscow (RUS)
● 2018 Shaoxing: 98 points - Zhu Ting (CHN) for VakifBank Istanbul (TUR)

All above scoring was recorded in 4 matches until 2015 - 5 matches since 2016.

Dinamo Kazan's Ekaterina Gamova punches through the Molico/Osasco Sao Paulo block of Caterina Bosetti and Adenizia 'Ade' Da Silva in the 2014 Club World Championship in Zurich. The Russian's all-time high of 34 points in that match was only tied last year in Shaoxing by China's Liu Yanhan for Zhejiang Women's VC.
