Motta: “Both semifinal matches were emotional”

Shaoxing, China, December 7, 2019 – Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul are back in the final round following their 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 25-11, 23-25, 15-13) win over Igor Gorgonzola Novara on Saturday in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship at the Shaoxing Olympic Sports Centre.

Eczacibasi Vitra Istanbul coach Marco Aurelio Motta: “I think both semifinal matches today were very strong as both were emotional matches. There were two moments in the match wherein we played in a good level. Our block made the difference in those two sets. I want to commend Novara because they played very strong.”

Eczacibasi Vitra Istanbul captain Kim Yeon-Koung: “This wasn’t an easy match. Novara are a very strong team. We know that they would push us hard. I’m very happy that we won. The fifth set was very close and it was very hard to win against them.

“We lost our first match against Imoco Volley Conegliano and we know how to play against them a little bit. I know that we can win against them. For sure it’s not easy but we have the power and good spirit in this team so we will try our best to take the title.”

Igor Gorgonzola Novara coach Massimo Barbolini
: “Today’s match was better than the other day. I’m very proud of my players. They played well against a team that everyone thinks is strong. We were two points away from victory so next time we have to try harder.

Igor Gorgonzola Novara player Jovana Brakocevic: “We knew we have to play against a very strong team like Eczacibasi. We fought until the very end, but the small differences decided the results. It was very close and it wasn’t like a straight-set match but a five-setter, so that means we really fought hard.”
